Update from Kieran, April 2008:
It's been a pretty hectic start to the year with 17 shows in Germany and Switzerland, then flying straight to Belfast for the 3 shows at The Opera House. The good news is that all the shows went great! I was touring for the first time in Europe with Gareth on bass and Annie on backing vocals, and it was amazing! We had a fantastic time. Nearly all of the 17 shows sold out in advance and the reaction of the people was so warm and enthusiastic. So, thank you to everyone who came along to the shows and made this tour so memorable for us. We'll be back in Germany and Switzerland in March 2009 (March 18th to April 4th).
Thank you also to everyone who made it to Belfast for the 3 Nights at The Opera House shows (click on the Reviews page on this site to read Damien Murray's review for The Belfast Telegraph). I'm delighted that all 3 nights sold out and Maurice Linnane and his crew filmed the shows for a future DVD release and TV transmission. I don't know exact dates of release etc., but keep an eye on the website and/or my MySpace page (www.myspace.com/kierangoss) for more details. A special thank you to all my special guests on the Opera House shows: Rodney Crowell, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Brendan Murphy and Kimmie Rhodes. They'll all be coming back soon to do their own tours, so if you want to see more of them, keep an eye out for tour dates.
I've also decided to go ahead with a full release of Kieran Goss Trio Live. My original plan was to make it available only here on the website and at live shows, but the demand for it has been massive. You can buy it here on the website by clicking 'Buy Music' above. The CD will also be available in shops from June 6th 2008.
I'm playing a show at The National Concert Hall, Dublin, on Saturday 21st June. All the proceeds will go directly to Console, a charity supporting the suicide bereaved. Console do fantastic work and it would be great to see some of you there on June 21st to support them in this. Go to 'Tour Dates' for further information. You can also buy tickets online from The National Concert Hall website: www.nch.ie
Plans are also afoot for an Irish tour in October of this year. I'll be touring with Gareth Hughes on bass and Annie Kinsella on backing vocals. Dates have yet to be confirmed: once they are, you'll find them in the 'Tour Dates' section.
Since I've decided to release 'Kieran Goss Trio Live' this summer, I've had to make some changes to the release schedule for my new studio album: it's all lined up and ready to go, but I'm now planning to release it in February 2009. It will be called 'I'll Be Seeing You'.
Update from Kieran, November 2007:
Let me start by saying a huge thank you
to everyone who got in touch over the last seven or eight months to
send prayers, good vibes, positive energy and get-well wishes to my
wife, Ann. In March of this year, Ann was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Because of this, we had to do a u-turn on all of our plans for the year
while we dealt with that bombshell and concentrated on her treatment.
It's been a long haul, but I'm very happy to be able to write that she's
back to full health again after her treatment and we're both looking
forward to getting back onstage soon. So we'd both like to take this
chance to sincerely thank all of the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and everyone
who was involved in getting Ann back to health throughout this year
in Nashville, Sligo and Galway. You do an amazing job in very difficult
circumstances. We will never forget your kindness, friendship and professionalism.
The German and Swiss tour that was to have happened last March has now
been rescheduled for February/March 2008. This ‘Trio Tour' features
Gareth Hughes on double bass and Ann on backing vocals. Our special
guest for all dates will be Texan singer/songwriter, Kimmie Rhodes.
For more information on dates and venues, see the Tour Dates section
of the website.
I'm also delighted to be able to tell you that after a lot of persuading,
I'm finally releasing a live album... ‘Trio Live' will only be available
at the live shows (from February 2008) and from here on this site (from April 2008). The
tracks for ‘Trio Live' were recorded at the end of 2006 when the trio
toured Ireland. We recorded the live shows at that time with the idea
of putting out a live album. I'm very proud of the finished article...
I really think we've managed to capture the energy and atmosphere of
those shows.
In March 2008 I have a very special series of concerts coming up at
the Grand Opera House, Belfast (March 20th, 21st and 22nd). I'll have
an amazing cast of talented musicians appearing with me as special guests
for these ‘Three Nights At The Opera House' shows (Rodney Crowell, Beth
Nielsen Chapman, Brendan Murphy and Kimmie Rhodes). For more information
and booking info., see the press release below, or again, it's all on
the Tour Dates page.
In September of this year I spent some time in Austin, Texas, recording
a new studio album. The working title for the album is ‘One Boy's Treasure'
(also the title of a song I wrote with Beth Nielsen Chapman and Kimmie
Rhodes). ‘One Boy's Treasure' is scheduled for release in May 2008,
and has been co-produced by myself and Gabe Rhodes, with the legendary
Joe Gracey engineering the sessions and mixing. The album is very simple
and acoustic... very stripped back. John Gardner plays percussion and
Glenn Fukunaga is on double bass. I'm becoming a regular visitor to
Austin these days... in January of this year both myself and Ann spent
some time there recording backing vocals with Kimmie Rhodes for her
forthcoming album, ‘Walls Fall Down'. I also played guitar on the album
and Kimmie and I co-wrote five or six songs for it. We're really looking
forward to performing the songs in public when Kimmie comes over to
do the shows in Germany and Switzerland next February/March and also
at the Opera House shows in Belfast next March.
Once again, thanks so much to all of you who got in touch. Your kindness
kept us going through some tough times this year. I hope to see you
at some of the shows in 2008.
Kieran.
KIERAN GOSS | 3 NIGHTS AT THE OPERA HOUSE
| 20/21/22 MARCH 2008
with special guests Rodney Crowell, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Brendan Murphy & Kimmie Rhodes
Hailed as one of Ireland's finest singers and songwriters, Kieran Goss's
ability to connect and have fun with his audience at his live shows
is nothing short of legendary. In the words of one country music star:
"Kieran is one of the most gifted performers
around today. He has an amazing ability to reach out to his audience
and connect with them in a very special way. This guy is the real deal,
and that's what makes him the star he is."
Don Williams
Now as a special one-off event, Kieran Goss plays ‘3 Nights
At The Opera House' (March 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2008) in the
company of his friends and co-writers RODNEY CROWELL, BETH NIELSEN
CHAPMAN, BRENDAN MURPHY and KIMMIE RHODES (all of the guest
artists listed will be appearing each night) .
Kieran explains how the idea for these shows came together: “Rodney
Crowell, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Kimmie Rhodes made their names in
the world of country music, but as artists they stretch way beyond any
genre. They all have had huge success as writers and performers. Likewise
Brendan Murphy, who is probably best known as the singer and songwriter
with The 4 Of Us. These shows came about because I really wanted to
share some of the magic and fun that happens when we get together to
play and write music. I'm very excited to have them as my special guests
for these shows at the Opera House”.
To make a booking, telephone +44 2890 241919, or book online
at the Grand Opera House website: www.goh.co.uk It is advisable
to book early to ensure a good seat (particularly for the Saturday night
show).
In co-operation with our travel partners, Travel Solutions, we have
arranged a special Easter weekend package for those who are travelling
to the show and wish to spend the weekend in Belfast. See www.travel-solutions.co.uk
for further details, or telephone +44 2890 455030.
